The 450 is the one that's most likely to have been used as an actual enduro bike, competitively, so bear that in mind. It's the raciest and most brutal of the range. The 400 is an all-rounder. The later non-RFS 500 and 350 are the powerful lugger and nimble handler respectively.
700 hours at 15-hour intervals is about 45 oil changes, or 90 qts of oil. 700 hours at 25-hour intervals is 28 oil changes, or 56 qts. 90 - 56 = 34 quarts = 8.5 gallons of oil. call it $20/gallon (Rotella T6, $21-ish if you catch it on sale at walmart, usually $25-28/gal), that's $170 worth of oil that you really didn't need to change.
My 2007 KTM 450 XC decided to be evil. After the first ride after some maintenance, the rear of the bike was coated in oil. I cleaned the bike, did a full oil change and it still leaks. The oil leaks out of the port featured in this internet photo:
A well maintained 450 ridden by a fast motocross guy will easily go 60 hours on a topend (piston, rings, timing chain). This is as long as you're not doing stupid shit like bouncing off the Rev limiter in the air. For your average joe/trail rider I would push it to 80-100 hours. The key is frequent oil changes and a clean air filter.
