First of all, welcome to GW2! A few things first: sPvP uses standard gear and stats regardless of your lvl. A lvl 2 player has the same stats as a lvl 80. If you don't like PvE you don't have to step foot in it. You can lvl exclusively from PvP (thanks to Tomes of Knowledge that you get from Reward Tracks)

Yes, come play! Don't delete your old characters; they'll have lots of lovely birthday gifts! But if you have a spare char slot, it's not a terrible idea to level someone new to 80, to re-learn the game! They've made some changes to levelling so it's VERY fast now; it's a quite good way to relearn the game!

The easiest beginner classes are warrior, ranger and necromancer. Choose the one that resonates with you the most. With that being said, each class is unique and has it's own pros and cons. Dont be afraid to choose a class that isn't "easy" and just go with what feels right to you.

A class based around channeling and communicating with Legendary figures like the Revenant is exceptionally Norn-y indeed. In a way, the Revenant could be seen as a Shaman/Skaldic figure.
